Homework does More Harm than Good

A lot of teachers like to give their students a homework. Because many schools have set the rules of giving homework to students. Homework is a task  (as known as an assignment) that given by teacher to students and it should have done at home. One of the intentions of homework given to students is teacher hopes from giving a homework to students, it makes them  to practice what they have been taught at school. But in fact, students become exhausted because when they go home after studying in school earlier, they still need to do a homework. So they have not much time to take a rest and do the things that they like.  There are many opinions about giving a homework to students. Homework has a positive and negative impact for students. There are many pros and cons to the problem of giving a homework to students as follows.

The people who pros to the problem of giving a homework to students said that homework encourages students to work more independently. It makes them to prepare theirselves before go to college and work. We as a human need to expand our responsibilty to work on time. Students need to work independently, because it makes them to develop study skills and self-discipline for the future. By giving a homework, students taught independence and the responsibilty in doing a homework. Then, Homework makes students practice what they are taught at school. A homework that given by teacher is always relate to the recent lessons, and it help students become more confident in using their skills and knowledge. By doing a homework, it makes them unintentionally review the material of the lessons.

The people who cons to the problem of giving a homework to students said that  homework has little benefit in education, and it causes  a waste of students’  time. Some schools do not set the teachers give their students a homework, and the result is students become not frustrated and exhausted. There are no studies that found a correlation between homework and good result on test at school. It can be seen from Japan and Denmark that set their teachers to give their students a few homework and the result is students get  excelent score on tests. But on the other hand, the schools in other countries with more homework get bad results. Then, homework makes students lazy to study. By doing their homework many sudents become frustrated, exhausted, stressed, and bored. Because sometimes a teacher has not explained something new well in class, then finally the teacher give students a difficult homework. After that the teacher give students unrealistic deadline, and the worse is if students collect their homework lately, they will be punish by their teacher. Because of that, students become dislike education and makes them lazy go to school. Furthermore, students can be drop out too early because always absent from school.

In summary, homework is a task or an assignment that should have done at home by students. Homework has a positive and negative impact for students. But, from the short explanation above the negative impact from giving a homework for students is obviously. Because we can see the impact of giving a homework for students is makes students become feel frustrated, exhausted, stressed, bored, and also makes students do not have much time to take a rest and do the things that they like. Homework is necessary in education too, but the teacher is expected can give a homework to students wisely. Therefore as a teacher, we should not giving difficult homeworks to students. So, it makes them have much time to take a rest and do the things that they like.
