It is not unusual occurrence that a big sum of money is spent willingly for the purpose of maintaining health. Health care is not cheap, but that doesn’t mean we have to possess a large amount of money in order to be healthy. One easy and cheap way to maintain health is drinking water. Drinking water has a lot of benefits such as maintaining body fluids balance, controlling calories, energizing muscles, keeping healthy skin, and helping the kidney.
On average, 60% of water is cointained in an adult human body. The water comes from liquid and food. Everyday, body fluid is lost through urination, sweating, respiration, and excretion. Without enough water consumption, body is not able to balance the bodily fluid level. Thus leads to dehydration which causes headache, tiredness, and loss of concentration.
One of many water uses for body is to control calories. Water helps to increase metabolic rate. The body’s attempt to heat the ingested water resulting 40% of the increase in calorie burning. That means, the more water we drink the higher our metabolic rate is. Drinking water fills stomach which prevents overeating and makes people less hungry.
Drinking water also helps in energizing muscles. It is important  for proper hydration of muscles during exercise. Water consumption makes muscles appear bigger because water molecules are used in the process of rebuilding torn muscle fibers after a workout. Dehydration, losing a large amount of water from the body, will lead to the suffering of muscle performance.
Another benefit of drinking water is keeping the skin healthy. Skin has to get the proper hydration to maintain its moistness. It needs an enough amount of water in order not turning to be dry, tight, and flaky. A variety of structures in the skin that support collagen require water to work effectively and a not enough amount of water certainly dries the skin which is prone to wrinkle.
In addition, drinking water helps the kidney. Drinking a lot of water leads to frequent urination which prevents kidney stones. Dehydration makes it difficult for kidney to excrete metabolic waste through producing urine. In other words, drinking more fluids lowers risk of chronic kidney disease.
To conclude, drinking water brings a lot of benefits. It is not only helping bodily organs’ work, but also maintaing skin health. Enough water consumption is one way to maintain our health. After all, living a healthy life is one of our must-be priority.
